George's name was also spelled Knopp in the records.

I found the following information on Ancesty.com. However, it seems to contradict other research I have been given, and bear in mind that I have not been able to verify it:

George Knepp was an orphan. A direct descendant from those who arrived on the ship "Samuel" from Rotterdam in 1731. Lived during the Revolutionary War in Longswamp Township, Berks Co, Pennsylvania, and left about 1785. (Kebb, Kneb, Knopp, Knob, Knep, Knepp-all the ways his name has been spelled.) Guarded supplies north of Sunberry, Pa on the Susquhanna river. After the war he settled in Black Oak Ridge, Beaver Township, Union (now Snyder) Co, Pennsylvania. He was the first Knepp to settle in the area presently known as Snyder Co, Pennsylvania. He served in the Revolutionary war till the end. His will was translated from German, and he was illiterate because he left his mark X on his will. He stated he had been raised by strangers, and that his real father's name was Michael.

Date of Death came from the Pennsylvania State Archives: Records of Deaths of Testators, Snyder Co, Roll #7983

Will is in the Lewisburg, Union Co, Courthouse in the Will Index Book, Yr: 1833 No:1 Will:858
